Why? (new section! Put up 3/11/03)
My first Who custom was made in 1983. It was bad. VERY BAD. All I had was the Doctor, there was no internet, and he NEEDED bad guys!

Realizing the opportunity that my Planet of the Ape soldier held, his uniform resembling an Ogrons, I took this goopy, squeeze tube paint I had and built over the Apes head with it, transforming him into an Ogron.

An ugly Ogron. A much-uglier-than-Ogrons-are- supposed-to-be-Ogron. Me? I was thirteen. I knew it sucked, but what did I know about customizing? And dammit, that Apes body was 8" and the Doctor's was 9"! So much for customizing...

The world gets smaller...
Fast forward a decade and a half and a few things had changed for me. I had a Leela now! But I wanted so much more! Not just the other Denys Fisher dolls, but ones they didn't make as well! It was painful. Then I opened up a toy magazine and saw a whole photo-spread dedicated to a Mego super hero customizer named Charlee Flatt. My simmering thoughts of customising Mego's were turned upside down. This guy did it! And I mean, he not only did it, but he freaking nailed them right out of the park. His were amazing!
I had to make my customs now. I saw it could be done, and his work inspired me to no end.

A community of customizers..
Don't even get me started about what happened once I got a computer and found all the customizers sites on-line. But there was hardly any Doctor Who customs to be found except Brian Heiler's awesome "Master". Somebody needed to change that. there had to be others out there, right?

With my Doctor Who customs site, I hope I've inspired some of you the way Charlie Flatt's work inspired me (and everyone over at Zap Bang Pow.com years later), and hope that maybe I've made a few of you try to make a few customs yourself. And as more Who customizers step up and set up their own sites (found on site one's link page), hopefully WE will inspire someone to pick up a toy and customize it.

But it isn't easy. (Truth be told, it isn't always fun.) Me? I might make a decent Ice Warrior (or so I've been told) but I'd really just as soon buy it than have to make it myself. (Neccessity is the mother of invention!). I mean, where does someone start?

That's what this site is for. "Where does someone start". Here, I'll give EASY tips to sprucing up your Who collection, whether you are a customizer or not.
I'll tell you how to make a scarf for your scarfless Doctor, or just upgrade to a nicer one.
I'll explain some of the basic concepts of customizing for you, so maybe you'll give it a go yourself. Watch as this site fills out. What are you waiting for? Let's go!
